My main duty is to thoroughly review police reports and accompanying evidence and determine criminal charges to be filed (if any). This is mostly independent work, with the occasional team project. If there are any issues with the report, I reach out to my superiors and/or the law enforcement officer and relay the problems. For reports that result in charges, I formally write official court documents. Other duties include assisting in trial preparation, completing special requests for investigation, and occasionally assisting in pre-trial hearings/conferences in misdemeanor courts. This position required a deep understanding of Indiana statute/criminal code.

Work independently to clean, analyze, and visualize data predominantly in RStudio and Microsoft Excel. Work with large scale datasets sometimes nearing 10,000 observations from a United Way Greater Nashville project. This project provides services to in-need families in Nashville such as housing solutions, mental health assistance, and various other social services. I report progress and results to supervising consultants at Elevate. I also assist in preparing presentations for stakeholders and communicate directly with a United Way representative about data planning and the evaluation process.

Assistantship included both a research and teaching assistantship depending on the semester. For the research assistantship, I assisted in managing and conducting research in an experimental social psychology lab. This included research project design, management, data collection, and data analysis. It also included supervising undergraduate research assistants in the lab during a two semester long research project. I also obtained experience with statistical programs (R, Python, SAS) used in research and data analytics during this assistantship. For the teaching assistantship, I instructed a weekly research methods lab. The duties for this job included lecturing, planning and conducting in class activities, and grading.

I received training for applied data analysis, management, and visualization methods used in program evaluation and other consulting work (both quantitative and qualitative data). I assisted in various existing projects involving data from non-profit clients in the Nashville area, including projects focused on eradicating homelessness, suicide prevention, and other social programs. I worked both independently and as part of a larger team, and prepared final reports and other documents for projects I worked on. I was also able to sit in on meetings with clients an interview consultants at Elevate about their experience and knowledge.

Internship with Manchester University's Department of First Year Experience. I worked with 3 other orientation assistants, as well as Manchester faculty, to train existing Manchester University student volunteers to welcome incoming undergraduate students, prepare welcome week activities, and manage a group of student volunteers throughout the school year to ensure they are keeping in touch with their assigned undergraduate students and assisting them when needed. I also assisted in some low-level survey data cleaning and analysis to track first year students' success throughout their first year.
