I lead the Telco Partner Architecture Team at Red Hat. We work with our industry partners in the telecommunication industry building blueprints for repeatable customer deployments, pairing Red Hat technology with the Partner's technology to address key 5G use cases.

I hang my hat in the Telco Solutions and Engagement team inside of the Ecosystem Engineering organization of Red Hat. Telecommunications and on-premises edge, network and containerized functions virtualization/containerization, radio access networks, 5G, are all a part of my charter.

I worked in the Office of the CTO of Red Hat on emerging technologies in the networking space. This included early efforts of working with key partners in the virtualized RAN space, helping them with getting their workloads running on Red Hat's OpenShift Container Platform.

I worked in the Global Partners and Alliances (GPA) organization inside Red Hat and was a Worldwide, Partner facing Principal SA, specializing in cloud infrastructure and virtualization. I focused on creating and evangelizing joint solutions, reference architectures, and field training/enablement with Red Hat's strategic partners, both in the enterprise and service provider markets.

Specific accomplishments:- Contributed towards building an automated capability for Red Hat's technical sellers to demonstrate Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) clusters in front of perspective customers.- Presented at Red Hat's flagship conference (Red Hat Summit) every year, including in 2018 where I helped deploy OpenShift across Azure, AWS, and three different on-premise environments to showcase how F5 and OpenShift could load balance across multiple clouds.- Demonstrated an experimental, containerized 5G Core and cRAN network live at KubeCon NA 2019 in San Diego in front of 8000 people. Built three OpenShift 4 clusters on baremetal, in France, United States, and Quebec. Helped to solve unique challenges with Linux realtime and partner containerized functions, and inter-lab networking to ensure platforms to support a keynote at KubeCon in San Diego for a cloud-native call using OpenShift as the platform for the entire demo. Demo was successful despite a complete power outage the night before!

My core charter was to (1) produce deeply technical and differentiated collateral and (2) evangelize and promote the benefits of both NetApp Storage products (FAS, E-Series, SolidFire) and NetApp's converged infrastructure platform called FlexPod. I specifically focused on the merits of using NetApp storage with OpenStack cloud software (heavily weighted on Red Hat's OpenStack Platform distribution), Red Hat Virtualization (RHV), Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Open Source automation frameworks (Puppet, Ansible, Chef), as well as persistent storage with Containers and Red Hat's PaaS software OpenShift.Specific accomplishments:– Authored and lead architect for NetApp in developing Cisco Validated Design for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 6 on FlexPod, both a Design and Deployment guide. This was the first CVD for OpenStack on FlexPod. See Publications section.– Lead author and architect in developing NetApp Technical Report (150+ pages) for deploying a redundant, highly-available, and automated OpenStack deployment on FlexPod with OpenStack Cinder, Glance, and Manila according to best practices. Wrote custom automation to deploy Manila in the resulting OSP8 environment. See Publications section.– Evangelizing, training and tools to improve selling efficiency of field and partner system engineers. Includes giving FlexPod premium partners Technical training on developed solutions.– Accepted and delivered speaking sessions at each OpenStack Summit since May 2015 (Vancouver, Tokyo, and two sessions in Austin) and NetApp's own technical conference called Insight. – Provide IT Infrastructure support for 1800+ multi-vendor access layer switches, 30+ aggregation layer switches, and 4 core switches across 350k+ of raised floor datacenter space for IBM Software Group test and development. Full OSPF routed model at the aggregation layer with redundant and highly-available Nexus 7009 core pair.– Lab core services compute system architecture design and rollout on enterprise blade and SAN hardware hosting ISC BIND DNS & ISC DHCP services used by 64k IPv4 address space running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.– Virtualization architect tightly coupling almost 8,000 virtual machines in VMware vSphere environment in enterprise class, highly available datacenter infrastructure using multi-vendor, multi-hop switching infrastructure with FCoE. Constant communication, teamwork, and go-between person for server Virtualization, SAN, and Network teams ensuring highest quality environment for IBM test/development consumption of hosted services.– Manage, configure and troubleshoot IBM DS Series Fibre Channel block storage and data protection for Linux production servers.– Cloud computing workload deployments via IBM SoftLayer for IBM Internal workloads representing true hybrid cloud deployments. Strict adherence to required security standards via IPSec tunnels opened using Vyatta software appliance devices.– Engineered cable plant facility (copper/fiber), physical and logical datacenter moves, KVM console, and L2/L3 networks for pre-production labs and production data centers.– Responsible for isolated, secure lab networking and systems infrastructure deployed for IBM Secure Support via US Citizens Software Support program. Includes large scale infrastructure migration project to completely new WAN equipment and provider, internal lab network assignments, DNS, migration from Notes to Exchange, VOIP ownership, and client operating system upgrades. Also includes maintaining accreditation according to customer security requirements.

– Work remotely during college semesters and at the office during summer sessions while a full-time student– Cisco access switch deployments in accordance with customer schedules and workloads.– Designed from the ground up a wide-scale opensource monitoring system on Nagios and Cacti and configured the system to monitor and track all the key infrastructure switches/systems across the network. Notification alerts provided using email, modem, and SMS services.

– Work with fellow interns on requirements in the support of seven unique technical projects for IBM's Extreme Blue program. This is IBM's flagship internship program for top-notch students pursuing software development and MBA degrees.– Modified Gallery (open source, web-based photo album organizer) PHP code to support LDAP authentication to IBM Enterprise Directory.– Plan, architect, and oversee the installation a more redundant computer systems environment using a combination of the IBM Bladecenter, x86 blades running Linux, and a SCSI based block storage appliance.

– Linux system deployment (originally Red Hat 9.0 and SuSE Linux 9.0) for test machine and network interoperability projects. I've been using Linux in many different flavors ever since!– Ensure machine security compliance of various platforms against established information technology standards through automation.
