The Children’s Legal Rights Journal is a national journal sponsored by Loyola University Chicago School of Law in cooperation with the National Association of Counsel for Children. We publish articles on a variety of children’s legal issues and we are the only journal in the country specifically addressing legal needs of children. As Senior Editor, I substantiated, cite checked, and edited articles that were published in the Children's Legal Rights Journal.

Externship in the Child Protection Division of the Juvenile Justice Bureau in Judge Maxwell Griffin Jr.’s courtroom.• Represented the State in Permanency Hearings where a child was deemed a ward of the court• Elicited testimony through direct and cross examination to ensure the minor was progressing toward his or her permanency goal

Worked at the Juvenile Division of the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office• Semifinalist in the George Bennett Closing Argument Competition• Wrote motions, conducted legal research, and appeared in court with supervising attorneys• Argued several motions in juvenile delinquency cases

The Women's Law Society partners with the Chicago Women's Bar Association. At Loyola, WLS acts as a professional network for women pursuing law.

Kept an accurate record of the organization. Took charge of all correspondence. Planned a professional panel regarding education law at Loyola.

Wrote motions, briefs, and completed legal research regarding federal and state student suspension laws. Conducted intake with parents for children who were suspended from school.Led meetings with principals regarding the implications of suspensions and trained new SUFEO members.

Identified strengths and weaknesses in draft legislation, researched legislative history, and met with stakeholders to review and discuss draft bill. Legislation was focused on children in the juvenile justice system who were subsequently placed in the child welfare system.

Selected to be part of an intensive internship program at the nation’s largest pro bono law firm.Advocated both on a legislative and individual level for children with severe developmental disabilities who are in foster care.Conducted research, identified issues, and wrote inquiries regarding appropriate federal and state benefits for foster youth.Participated in select committees with Judges, DCFS, Probation, County Counsel, Regional Centers, and the Alliance for Children’s Rights.Attended trainings with experts in constitutional law, children’s rights, consumer law, and immigrant’s rights.

Developed long term science plans for myself and the Catalyst Howland elementary staff of twelve teachers and twelve instructional aids. Students have achieved the largest academic growth in science science Catalyst Howland opened. Lead three schools and 90 elementary educators in professional development about inquiry based lessons and the Next Generations Science Standards.

Selected as a Teach for America candidate after an intense application process with 58,000 applicants.Selected to be part of the 2013 - 2015 Leadership Pilot in Chicago.

Taught 6th Grade Mathematics in a remedial program in Chicago Public Schools at Chavez Elementary School.Developed long-term plans based on Illinois standards.Created daily lesson plans and interim assessments, while tracking and facilitating students’ progress to a goal.Fostered positive classroom culture by executing classroom management systems and proceduresParticipated in research-based professional development workshops.
