I advise a range of organisations, including multinationals, both on internal corporate investigations and during investigation or prosecution by regulatory bodies including the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). I have deep experience in leading cross-border investigations involving issues in foreign jurisdictions, with market-leading experience in Brazil, Portugal and Lusophone Africa. I have also handled major matters involving Russia, China, India, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Greece, Romania, the Czech Republic, Canada and Japan. I advise clients on financial sanctions and trade embargoes and counsel on the application of UK sanctions to corporate / fund structures and transactions in various sectors. I also assists clients to comply with reporting obligations to the UK sanctions authorities and handle investigations into possible sanctions breaches.I represent individuals subject to internal, regulatory and criminal investigation. Previous work includes advising clients throughout the global investigations into the integrity of financial benchmarks including LIBOR, EURIBOR and FX and the commodities markets. I have acted for clients in relation to Parliamentary Select Committee appearances. I am a member of Cadwalader’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) taskforce and advise clients on compliance with rapidly-evolving regulatory obligations and investigations relating to these areas.I speak fluent Portuguese and and spent two years in Brazil working with a Brazilian law firm where I advised corporate and individual clients in investigations stemming from Lava Jato (Operation Car Wash), including the negotiation of leniency agreements with Brazilian prosecuting authorities and regulatory agencies. My combination of fourteen years cross-border investigations experience, on-the-ground experience in Brazil and fluency in Portuguese is unique in the London market.In 2024, I was named to GIR’s “40 under 40” global list of next generation investigations specialists and ranked in Legal 500 for Regulatory Investigations and Corporate Crime (advice to corporates). I head the Disputes Sub-Committee of Lex Anglo-Brasil, am a member of the Human Rights Committee of the European Criminal Bar Association, the Financial Services Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce for Great Britain and AIJA.
