Conduct hazardous material surveys on buildings prior to renovation and demolition. Thisinvolved identifying suspect materials including drywall joint compound, vinyl sheet flooring,and many more, as well as strategically collecting samples of these materials so that nothing ismissed and the samples are in the right condition for analysis. This position also involves monitoring abatements of asbestos and lead containing materials both as part of the renovationprocess or prior to demolition. This often involved collecting samples to monitor air quality andanalyzing them either in the lab or in the field with portable equipment. The process includedthorough inspections of the work area to ensure that the hazardous materials had been removedto a degree that made it safe for unprotected people to again enter the work area.
