As the new brand ambassador for Glasgow it is my job to be the first point of contact for any venue or off sales that stocks the Shetland Reel Gin range. Responsible for seeking out potential venues that may be interested in stocking the gins. Organising and taking part in events such as tastings, food pairing events or cocktail evenings. This also gives me the opportunity to see how businesses perform in a range of commercial properties.

I had the opportunity to work in one of Glasgow’s most recognisable hotels at Central Station and was able to witness the ongoing restoration of an important example of the city’s Victorian architecture. Through customer interaction I learned that the history and the restored interior aesthetic was a main driver behind their decision to visit alongside the hotels convenient location or prices. My primary role in this position was to draft plans, elevations and sections of current projects, using AutoCAD software, as per my employer’s specifications. Throughout my year of employment I gained an extensive knowledge of architectural drafting and imaging software such as AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Adobe Photoshop. I was also involved in the surveying of sites and buildings and the initial design of renovations, extensions and new builds.

Working in the bakery department of Tesco I gained many skills related to interfacing with customers and other members of staff. In particular, I worked closely with the public maintaining a polite, friendly, and helpful manner.
