Solicitor
CurrentI am a highly experienced solicitor specialising in Wills, Probate, Trusts and general Private Client law for over 30 years. As a Solicitor my initial training covered most aspects of the law which means I can translate this experience into advising clients on their personal affairs. It is important that everyone has a Will so that they can ensure that the right members of their family benefit, or not and that the right advice is given to reduce Inheritance Tax liabilities and also protect their assets from others. Many clients making Wills also need Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in case they should be unable to manage their own affairs. I advise on these as well. When considering Wills and future inheritance issues I can identify ways of reducing Inheritance Tax and planning for the future of clients and their families. When someone dies I help the family administer the Estate, whether or not there is a Will. This involves collating details of the Estate, preparing the Inland Revenue papers and application for the Grant of Representation (probate/letters of Administration), collect in the assets of the Estate, settle the liabilities, pay the legacy and distribute the Estate. I am also used to looking at ways of improving the beneficiaries own tax position. In that respect I advise and help administer trusts created by the Will or by a Deed of Variation as well as creating lifetime trusts to protect the family as a whole.I am also on the panel of specialist Wills and Trusts legal professionals recommended by Mencap. At Knowles Benning, we have specialist advisers on most aspects of the law and in addition work closely with accountants, financial advisers and other professionals to ensure that our clients get the best service possible. If you think that I can be of any help to you, please contact me via our Shefford Office (Monday - Friday) on 01462 814824
