I strive to make the world a better place, mostly with the environment. My career started in government where I did code enforcement and administration. The job was pretty much what you would expect, but I was able to experience some interesting things, most memorable was serving warrants with the police. After that I went from being the regulator to the regulated with my move to nonprofit healthcare. This is the job I hold today. Surprisingly, cities and hospitals have a lot in common and my urban studies degree came to good use. We have won a handful of healthcare sustainability awards and even a wastewater pretreatment award (How many people do you know that have won one of those?). With my broad role in healthcare, based in the facilities department, I have been able to get experience in energy efficiency, building automation, storage tanks, lighting, NFPA codes, waste management, supply chains, construction, and renewable energy sourcing. Beyond my career I enjoy volunteering for my community, science experiments, cooking, and spending time with my wife and two kids.
