The Excelsior Fire District

The Excelsior Fire District is comprised of the cities of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay. The Excelsior Fire District has two fire stations located in Deephaven and Shorewood. Our service area is 14+ square miles and 18,000 residents. The Excelsior Fire District was formed in 1891 and has evolved from a bucket brigade to today's most advanced fire suppression tactics. The District has over 40 firefighters who respond to over 1,000 calls for service every year. The calls include fire suppression, emergency medical assistance, water and ice rescue, vehicle crashes, and hazardous materials control/mitigation. Our resources include two fully staffed Fire Stations, a 107ft Ladder truck, two Engines/Pumpers, a Pumper/Tanker, a Heavy Rescue vehicle, a light rescue vehicle, two ATVs, one grass rig/light rescue vehicle, a Life Safety/Hazmat Trailer, a rescue/fire suppression boat, and an assortment of command/staff vehicles. We provide comprehensive training for new firefighters and weekly on-going training for all members in fire suppression and emergency medical assistance.
