- Led the challenging and time-constrained design and build of an innovative multi-use vehicle prototype, in close collaboration with internal workshop technicians and our university partner. The completed vehicle was showcased to great success at the biannual Sydney Bus & Coach Expo.- Created vision for and collaborated with overseas suppliers on two facelifts for public transport buses, with special attention to design for manufacturing and homologation requirements. I designed a unique asymmetric bus front to improve driver visibility and thereby pedestrian safety.- Supported the engineering team with new product development, writing requirements (in part based on tender documents and (inter)national vehicle design rules), technical discussions with suppliers, and preparing documentation for ISO 9001 certification.- Familiarised quickly with the industry and its engineering approach to be capable of wearing multiple hats within the team.- Led product portfolio visualisation with 3D renders to support the Sales department, both through individual 3D modelling and through managing contractors.

- Support my partner in developing her business model and cost structure.- Set up online store at mayaproducts.com.au based on Wordpress and Woocommerce, and developed a custom visual theme (using frontend languages: PHP, HTML, CSS, JS).- Executed graphic design for logo and website, including photography and video editing.

- One of six people leading Sydney’s Human-Computer Interaction and Interaction Design community body.- Led the graphic design of SydCHI’s logo, maintain sydchi.acm.org and @sydchisig on Twitter.

- One of three academics in a cross-faculty unit, Design Next, focused on developing a design curriculum and research agenda across the university.- Lead role in developing, coordinating, and co-teaching large, complex courses in the Engineering Honours program, teaching 3100+ students per year on engineering design (1st year), user-centred design (2nd year), and strategic design innovation (3rd year).- Developed a co-teaching model and processes to engage up to 15 project coordinators and 100 casual teaching staff per term.- Co-developed a research program around design foresight into Australia’s energy transition. Together with a multi-university team, won a bid for CRC funding worth $25K for our unit.- Executed a user research project for an industry partner, focusing on electric vehicle drivers and passengers. Did stakeholder interviews, derived design requirements, and integrated this into vehicle concept generation.

Early 2018, Mid 2019: Active on two projects investigating the User Experience of emerging technologies (e.g., AR, VR, voice interaction) for technicians working in the field. I was responsible for interviews, contextual inquiry, mocking up design concepts, evaluation in the field, user testing, analysis, and reporting.Mid 2018 onwards: Continuing my postgraduate research within Materialising Memories on the use of (and experience with) personal media for reminiscing, through further use of a prototype device developed earlier. Responsible for user research and reporting in various (non-)academic outlets.

- Co-supervised a TU/e Industrial Design MSc student during her semester-long research project.- Tutored (2x) Human-Centred Research Methods in the School of Software to 40+ undergraduate and postgraduate students.- Tutored (3x) Fundamentions of Interaction Design in the School of Software to 25-40 undergraduate and 30 postgraduate students.- Tutored (3x) Design Futuring studios in Interdisciplinary Design to 40+ 2nd year students.- Tutored Design Thinking in Interdisciplinary Design to 40+ 1st year students.- Tutored Design Thinking in Integrated Product Design to 25 1st year students.

Side job; Instructing and guiding customers with all activities, such as go-karting, wall climbing, laser tag, and sumo wrestling. Customer relation skills were core to the job, as was taking responsibility for company equipment (preventing abuse). I have co-written a handbook for fellow (new) activity guides, plus helped them familiarise with the job through on-hand guidance. The latter activity also put me in a role as ad-hoc teamleader for the team on duty (typically 4 to 5 people). (Note: company started trading as Lot66 in 2008).
