Dwana heads the firm’s Civil and Commercial Litigation practice which involves advising individual and institutional clients and representing their interests in the courts of the Commonwealth on the Bahamas on matters involving various areas of law including, trust law, estate planning, employment law, insurance law, company law, intellectual property, banking law, personal injury, etc.Dwana has over 11 years of legal experience, having served in active practice at reputable partnerships in The Bahamas (where she was a member of and as a full-time lecturer at the local Bar School in Civil Practice and Procedure II (a Level 2 course), the Law of Associations (a Level 2 course) and the Law of Remedies (a Level 1 course).Relevant accomplishments aside from the success she enjoys in her practice, include her participation on the Higgs & Johnson team which won the STEP Bahamas Moot competition in 2012 and her initiative as the Coordinator of the Commercial & Financial Services Specialist Law Clinic at the local Bar School, to partner with STEP Bahamas Branch to execute and host a local Joint Moot in which law students and young Associates in reputable law firms present legal arguments on topical issues related to the law of trusts. The Joint Moot is now an annual event and is an accomplishment of which Dwana is very proud. Dwana has also served as a part-time lecturer in the Banking Law and Employment Law & Practice courses at the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services, and has been an active member of the local Bar, having served (in the past) on various Committees as Chairperson and as the Bar’s Representative on the Bahamas Financial Services Board.
