In aviation maintenance it is important to excel in quality without the maintainer taking too long and throwing off productivity rates. It is also important that productivity goals are met without sacrificing quality or safety. The quality assurance inspection team is often the enforcer of the quality and safety standards, but it is the leadership team that gives the maintainers the knowledge, tools, training and motivation to consistently achieve all three goals. My first-hand knowledge as a maintainer helps me not only train my team, but also understand the implications of what I am asking them to accomplish and how I ask them to do it. You will see in my experience detailed below that I enjoyed a successful career in the United States Air Force where, although I started as a technician, I went on to lead teams of up to 80 technicians for more than 10 years. Though much of my experience has been on the C-130 airframe, I have worked with all types of specialists and am confident that my natural technical ability will enable me to learn new systems with ease. I have led process improvement initiatives and am often brought in to turn around underperforming teams. I excel at identifying the root cause of issues, establishing standardized maintenance processes and operational standards, creating accountability and gaining the team’s buy-in to these improvements. I am not afraid to dig in to the root cause of issues and own a problem until a solution is found. I will be permanently settling in the Huntsville, AL area when my service commitment ends in April of 2023, though I am available for SkillBridge opportunities in January of 2023. I can be reached at dwayne.conway.jr@gmail.com to discuss any opportunities where you think my experience can be of value.
