And she stole my heart with one act of kindness.There is was, a graduate student walking into a Skilled Nursing Facility. My professor had seen something in me that I had no idea was there. It would take me years to figure it out. As I walked into the facility, a little old lady was sitting in front of the door. her scarf dropped and and I picked it up. I was putting it back on her lap and she smiled at me and she stole my heart with one act of kindness. I made the decision to work in skilled nursing that day.I realized in that moment that I loved helping people. More than that, I love creating/managing an environment where people receive the help they need. As I thought about my life overall, I realized that it's what I have done a far back as I can remember. I was always the one breaking up the fight or helping the people being picked on at recess. This is who I really am at my core. I am a person who helps everyone around me.My career has afforded me the opportunity to do this daily. During my career, I have created award winning environments for the elderly to thrive. I have created programs that have improved the quality of life for many people. I get satisfaction from the success that is created when I make life better for the people I serve and produce a profit for the company that I serve. I truly believe that care of the customer is akin to taking care of the profits. I possess the skills that allow me to "See the field". In other words, profitability is not one dimensional: it comes from many activities and approaches. I try to exercise every one of them.This approach has awarded me a deficiency-free survey, an administrator of the year award, the bronze and silver level quality awards from the American Healthcare Association before 95% of Florida facilities and several Joint Commission Accreditations. Outside of work, I love to tinker around with my two classic cars, I have a 1965 Mustang and a 1963 Bel Air. They both keep me fairly busy. I also enjoy Gym time and staying in shape.
