Senior Software Development Consultant to Bank Of America, Charlotte, NC- Senior Software Developer for the Channel Payments Services team developing the Global Payments Orchestration System.- Development Lead responsible for several facets of design and implementation of the GPO System, enabling Bank Of America’s customers to leverage modern payments networks worldwide, including PayPal, Push-to-Card debit payment services, and so on. Payments enter the system via a REST endpoint secured with OAuth 2.0, which accepts various payment types from upstream systems in a standard xml format. It then decomposes the xml into its logical components preparatory to processing a payment through several bank-internal and third party integration APIs as steps of a coordinated payment processing workflow. These coordinated steps are managed using Activiti BPM, the KIE Workbench toolset, and Drools. Whether foreign exchange or single-currency, individual transactions or batch payments, or using one or multiple disparate clearing houses, GPO is being built to handle several variations of payment types and processes enabled by a robust SOA and reliable REST interfaces. In developing GPO, I am also responsible for providing visibility into the inner workings of the payments orchestration process by publishing process-specific, standardized events messages to MQSeries to be consumed by several monitoring and reporting tools external to GPO.- GPO is expected to process millions of payments totalling several billion dollars within the first months of its release, making the robustness and reliability of the overall system a mission-critical consideration in implementation.
