I am a general pediatrician in private practice with a staff of eight employees, including a physician assistant. I founded this practice 10 years ago, in September, 2003, with the goal of providing comprehensive health care to a diverse population, including a substantial immigrant community. We were the first pediatric office in our area to use a fully integrated EHR in order to create a more efficient physician/patient encounter. My interests now turn to office based research, teaching of physician assistant students, and global medicine. We have been at the forefront of use of validated questionnaires to monitor child health and development and continue to strive for excellence in this area. I am now entering my eighth year as adjunct faculty at University of South Alabama School of Allied Health, where I teach three 8-week preceptorships in general pediatrics each year. I have an interest in foreign languages and cultures and plan to expand my experience in global health issues through work and travel abroad. Beginning in June, 2014, I will begin studies at University of Alabama-Birmingham's School of Public Health, Sparkman Center for Global Health.
