I work closely with universities to align investors with commercial tools, ensuring that research and development institutions receive the support they need to increase their funding efforts. I also oversee highly technical projects, making sure they are strategically positioned to gather the necessary assets and resources to effectively engage funding groups. As Vice President at BioNexus KC, I am responsible for establishing and expanding the medical and animal health research infrastructure within the Kansas City region. To do this, I facilitate collaborations between scientists and life science funding agencies. In this role, I have the opportunity to increase access to research funding options, as well as fortify the commercialization pipeline for life science researchers and entrepreneurs.I was fortunate to be the lead collaborator on one of Kansas City's largest grant efforts to enhance biologics, biosecurity, and personalized medical research/development across the region. This accomplishment was rewarded with the federal designation by the EDA that Kansas City is a Tech Hub, giving access to CHIPs Act funding to the whole region. This coalition group eventually because what is now KC BioHub, the active Regional Innovation Office for Kansas City.Another important focus of mine is to ensure availability of a trained, capable workforce to meet the needs of the area. I work with educational institutions and industry to bolster the region’s workforce pipeline and assist in policy and advocacy-related activities at local, state and federal levels. At BioNexus KC, I most enjoy serving my community on a large scale by working with the expansive life science ecosystems and numerous research organizations throughout the KC region.About BioNexus KC:BioNexus KC believes we can do more to care for people and animals. In early fall of 2013, I took over as Head of Epitome Analytics, a brand new division of Epitome Group Market Research geared towards large business-to-business manufacturing and engineering companies. I created the groundwork, that is now Epitome Analytics, starting with sales, marketing, research, and infrastructure. During my tenure, I was also able to relay my expertise in statistics to our research teams in an effort to bring mathematical significance to our final results. For our efforts, Epitome Group was named the 1st Place Finalist in the International Green Book Insight Innovation Competition.

Rehabilitation Institute Of Chicago

I served as a Graduate Project Director for the end phase of a long term Northwestern University neuropharmaceutical rehabilitation therapy trial, incorporating an original haptic robot. This took place as an additional masters' degree, on my way to a PhD. These efforts were complicated by the necessity for fully coordinated efforts across three universities and five research associates in order to facilitate implementation. To solve this problem, I effectively communicated technical research designs for preliminary experiments to a diverse group of research professionals using online communities and virtual design tools.

Mccormick School Of Engineering

I was able to design a new teaching syllabus incorporating advanced technology and modern uses for principles of electricity. After my term, I was recommended, by all staff involved in the class, for Honors in Teaching Excellence through the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University.

Physical Therapy And Human Movement Sciences, Chicago Campus

During my initial masters' degree research, I developed a new interactive robotic system to improve neural degeneration diagnostics for rehabilitation. I was also able to assemble a full-scale Haptic arm-coordination robot integrating both admittance & position control systems. My efforts were rewarded, after the project was completed, with the Northwestern University Emerging Graduate Student of the Year Award and the McCormick Student Award for Innovation in Biomedical Research.
