David spent the summer of 2019 sailing from Hawaii to San Francisco on an expedition to uncover the myths of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. While on board, David was responsible for all media inquiries as well as for the expeditions social and digital strategy. After 80 days at sea the Vortex Swim provided a detailed look at what this area of the ocean looks like and how the use of plastic on land is affecting the ocean as well as humanity. Previously, David was the Assistant Athletics Director for Social and Digital Strategy at the University of Texas at Austin. In this capacity, he works under the direction of leadership to develop and manage a comprehensive social media plan and content calendar for the Athletic Department. David honed his PR and Communications skills during his ten year stint at Hill+Knowlton Strategies in Austin, Texas where he worked on a wide range of projects, assisting clients with strategic communications, public affairs campaigns, and public relations. David helped coordinate strategic and tactical campaign execution for a major airline in Tokyo, Japan, a leading financial services firm in New York, an international energy company in Houston, and other corporate clients across the country.Prior to his tenure at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, David worked on the Romney for President campaign as Governor Romney's special assistant and travel aide during his first presidential run. Earlier, David served as special assistant to the chairman of the Republican National Committee, held various positions in the Bush-Cheney ‘04 campaign, and interned in the office of political affairs in the White House as well as the 2000 Bush for President campaign.Langdon has a dual degree in government and history from the University of Texas at Austin. He was raised in Washington, D.C., enjoys playing golf, skiing, the outdoors and open water swimming.
