This helped develop our plan and outlook for those same metrics. I was in charge of tracking all headcount for the Multi-Asset Solutions business. I tracked headcount movement weekly, prepared an Organization Chart comprised of a detailed layout of personnel within each group, and forecasted year end figures by communicating with the business on their needs. One of they very important parts of the role was collaborating with Portfolio Managers and Client Portfolio Managers to field requests for business statistics. These requests came in the form of internal requests for various groups, as well as external inquiries such as Requests for Proposals and Due Diligence Questionnaires. The external requests would help the managers win new business in a very competitive asset management environment (especially considering the sweeping movement to passive management practices).The second rotation of the program placed me in product control supporting Credit Trading & Syndicate. The team supports various products within Credit Trading such as Short-Term Fixed Income, Loan Trading, High Grade Bond Trading, High Yield Bond Trading, and Credit Derivative Trading. We help ensure the Balance Sheet figures are produced accurately on an internal basis monthly, as well as for external reporting every quarter. I created monthly reports to execute internal revenue sharing between our businesses due to shared clients on various transactions. I was able to work on a project that organized all clients (current as well as prospective) by size (market cap) and status of relationship based on how much business we have done with them. This role was a finance co-op at Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics in Raritan, NJ. I worked at least 40 hours per week during the spring semester of my junior year of college. The position was in cost accounting and encompassed many roles and responsibilities. I prepared a monthly Budgets vs Actuals report for four cost centers under my supervision and held a meeting with the respective cost center owner to identify problematic spending areas and come up with solutions. I constructed intuitive models for cost reduction projects within the plant based off of variable assumptions such as rate of output, labor and material costs, and overall efficiency. Furthermore, I created and distributed reports concerning open purchase orders, internal headcount, plant inventory, scrapped materials, and standard price changes. Another dynamic of the role included booking several monthly journal entries such as accruals for cost centers, accrual for large group of contractors' payroll, and items to be re-classed. Toward the end of the co-op, I delivered a presentation on the Operations Finance role to Senior Analysts and a Firm Overview to incoming interns which included the 2014 divestiture process (Ortho-Clinical was purchased by The Carlyle Group from Johnson & Johnson). I was also a member of the Intern and Co-op Association; we collaborated with peers to make effective transition from academic to professional setting and organized and participated in philanthropy events such as a company food drive. Lastly, I held a position entitled Professional Development Chair – facilitated events to accelerate our career development such as Excel trainings, resume workshops, presentation skill building, and Q&A’s with Upper level Management.
