As an animal care team volunteer I help to clean and sanitize the warm and cold climate penguin enclosures, prepare and measure out food, aide in penguin feeds, and other miscellaneous tasks.

In this role I provide care for two animal rooms consisting of amphibians, reptiles, and fish. In total there are around 40 animals under my care. In this role I must maintain a log on animal feedings, care, cleanings, etc. This is to comply with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which ensures that animals in research labs are provided with excellent care standards.In addition to my role as an undergraduate researcher, I also help to curate the collection at Northern Kentucky University. I aide the curation of specimens by preserving recently collected specimens, maintaining ethenol levels, and organizing specimens alphabetically by their scientific names.

As a STEM Peer Mentor, I mentored a class of 13 freshmen within the biology major. In this role I provided them with resources to aide them in their college journey. This came in the form of mentoring sessions. I would also assist in the running of the course, present in front of the class, and connect with on campus organizations to plan class visits to their departments.

As a Guest Experience Specialist, it is my responsibility to manage the touch tanks and attractions within the Newport Aquarium to ensure customer and animal safety, as well as to enhance the overall experience for our guests. In my role I speak to groups of people numbering up to 50 at a time. When I am speaking to the guests, it is my duty to inform them of how to safely touch our animals as well as to entertain and teach them about conservation and our animals.
