I joined Owen & Palmer from school as a trainee Electrician, passing my City & Guilds and NVQs as detailed below. Subsequently, I have been given the responsibility of managing trainees and Electricians, delegating work appropriately.I have supervised jobs involving up to ten members of staff. A key requirement of this has been to organise work tasks and time allocations for the team. I have been entrusted with full responsibility for ordering company materials required to complete various elements of work. I have also ensured that all jobs are completed and tested on schedule. I have worked very closely with various design teams from other companies and on many occasions, entirely designed an installation on the design team’s behalf. As part of every job I have worked on, I have enforced the strict Health & Safety procedures required for all on site work. My career has been predominately industrial based work, but has included some domestic work. I have taken every opportunity to broaden my experience in other fields when possible. I have worked on old and new installations; including maintenance, fault diagnostics, and repair.The following are major industrial projects on which I have gained significant experience: Stenna Line Ferries, Bangor University, Glambia Cheese, CPL Petroleum Distribution, and numerous other factories.This work has included:• Panel installations within a factory for control equipment• Patch panels for data purposes• Single and 3 Phase installations• Motors including phase rotation • Armoured cabling varying from 1.5mm to 240mm • Mineral insulated cable and FP 200• Galvanised / plastic conduit, tray, ladder racks and galvanised /plastic trunking• Data cables have included yy, profi bus, asi, cat5 and telephone cables• Installation of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting systems• Carrying out risk assessments• Ensuring Health & Safety is adhered to at all times
