Engineer Iii - Research Scientist And Quantum Test Engineer
Current• Control Software Development - Work with a team of software engineers to develop a new python based qubit test software suite - Provide use cases and requirements, guide broad scope architecture discussions - Directly contribute to code base, with emphasis on performant, robust, and flexible hardware control - Write low-level hardware drivers for interfacing with custom DACs - Testing and debugging of code in integrated system, finding problems and operation bottlenecks• Integrated Quantum System Test - Use the qubit as a sensor to investigate error sources from outside the qubit device itself - Develop custom experiments to examine both coherent control errors and non-deterministic errors - Assess performance of low noise cryo-amplifiers and custom DACs using standard electrical engineering tools including high speed oscilloscopes, TDR, VNA, spectrum analyzers• Performance Modeling and Simulation - Develop multi-line, crosstalk-aware electrical models that enable accurate predictions of qubit performance - Provide answers to what factors limit performance and execute trade studies of performance improvements versus various parameters - Compare results from time and frequency domain simulations to measured qubit data, thus verifying and improving model fidelity - Overall, demonstrated several major successes with finding and rectifying limitations in current designs
