After two years of being a temporary employee, I was promoted to a telemetry technician for the Acute Care units. During my time as a clerk in the ICU, I became familiar with basic arrhythmia and alarm management which made me a prospective candidate for the position. My essential duties include: observing and interpreting rhythms, monitoring vitals, adequately responding to all alarms, coordinating with physicians and nurses on patient's cardiac condition. This role requires me to have a solid understanding on ECG interpretation as well as some pharmacology as it pertains to the cardiac system.

Natividad is where my medical career started when I was hired as a medical unit clerk during the covid pandemic. I was hired as a temporary employee for the ICU-Isolation unit where I served as a clerk as well as contributed to nursing assistant needs due to the shortage and demand. My essential duties were all the desk responsibilities that included: preparing and faxing transfer packets, inventory management, maintaining accurate patient EMR, coordinating with charge nurse and house supervisor patient movements. With the shortage of nursing assistants, I was involved in routine patient care with Covid-ICU patients. Post Covid, I spent the rest of mine time on the ICU and Acute care floors performing the same job duties working variable shifts.

Working in the ICU allows me to provide meticulous care to critically ill patient's along with my passion to be a compassionate advocate to the patients and their families. My job role can vary from being a CNA to monitoring patient's cardiac rhythms. Some of my essential duties on the floor are always ensuring that patient rooms are well equipped with supplies and well kept to the hospital's standard. Throughout my shift, I am involved with patient care performing routine nurse aide duties such as hygiene, repositioning, exercise, nutrition, and vitals. Other duties may be more technical such as performing 12 lead EKGs or removing IVs and catheters.

I began working at Salinas Valley Health in January 2022 as a per diem Unit Assistant 1 for the Oncology Unit. As a UA, I am responsible for the clerical duties of the unit that include, but not limited to answering phone, inputting orders in Meditech, filing patient records, and communicating with charge nurse to facilitate admits/discharges. The Oncology Unit consistently requires previous medical records from other facilities as well as sending current records to potential transfer hospital which I am responsible for ensuring is done correctly and promptly.
