As I am originally from Oxford I came to work for BMW with an inherant interest of the automotive industry as my Grandfather worked in Birmingham within the same industry.In the 30's and 40's he was a draughtsman for Wilmot Breeden Ltd producing parts for all of the car manufacturers within the Midlands - Austin, Rover, Standard and Alvis etc. After the war he joined Fred Baker Ltd situated at 29-30 Park St and after becoming Director moved to Castle Bromwich. He had a number of brothers, some worked for Rover at Lode Lane Solihull and a brother in law that worked at Longbridge until the 1950's. Managing Framing 1 / 2 building R56 & R57 derivatives (Mini and Convertible), Rear End, Front End - being the Machine Controller pilot area I trained 26 associates. 2yrs within the VPS dept. Here I was instramental in changing the logistics ordering process R55 build, resulting in the reduction of parts by a pallet factor of x1 for the majority of parts represented major savings. Managed R55 (Clubman) build. Good expirience, knowledge of Allen Bradley and S7 / WinCC. Awarded for outstanding contribution to production by Paul Chantry, a former Director of BIW for a new Bodyside load process and recently awarded again for exceptional performance regarding volume and quality for the R55 Clubman by Wolfgang Neuhofer, a former Director of Plant Oxford.Moved from BIW to manage the Validation lines and work towards reducing quality issues - painted finish being a speciality. To assist a new VDC in upskilling associates regarding Painted finish I was asked to work in Galveston, Gulf of Mexico - Texas. Here I spent 10 wks supporting and feeding back issues across the whole product range via regular Skype meetings with the IQS central team in Munich.Currently working in Production Control, responsible for build sequences through Plant Oxford BIW, Paint and Assembly. The timely management of Press and Show car build through the facilities, including management of the COSS.
