As a pharmacy technician in the pandemic, I have been administering COVID-19 tests to help inform patients if they have been infected with the virus. Along with COVID testing, I count pills to make sure every prescription is filled accurately to make sure each patient can take the correct dosage of the medications that are prescribed by their doctor. I help with managing patient relations by making sure all their prescriptions are filled when they need them along with making sure that they are accurately billed through insurance to make sure they are paying as little as possible for the medications that they need. Working as a pharmacy technician has also helped me learn what medications are used for what conditions furthering my learning about the pharmaceutical industry.

As an undergraduate researcher, I maintained cell lines using aseptic techniques. This technique allowed me to perform cytotoxicity assays on human kidney and liver cells. Along with performing cytotoxicity assays I also cultured Chinese hamster ovarian cells. I used this cell line to help design a procedure to run genotoxicity analysis on a promising novel drug candidate. Also in this research position, I worked on a synthesis project where I used reflux and distillation techniques. In order to make sure the correct product was formed I used TLC and NMR to confirm the correct product was formed. Some of the steps in this project required that the product be separated by column chromatography which I also performed.
