I am an aspiring student affairs professional. How did I ever come to this conclusion? Helping people has always been my passion. Of what seemed like 100 majors I tried out in college, all were related in that they were designed to help people. I finally decided on becoming a teacher. However, it did not seem like the perfect fit. I needed to change the population I was working with. This is what led me to student affairs.With years of education experience, I knew I belonged in a career that involved helping others. The problem was finding whom I wanted to help. The answer was college students. I realized that I was in their shoes not so long ago. I was lost and did not know what I was going to do in life. I did not get the necessary guidance until I met my advisor that helped me to find social studies education. Their ability to give me guidance and clarity is what I want to give to college students. I want to be that support system that helps students along their college journey. This is why I am in student affairs. I am highly motivated to pursue a career in this field to make an impactful difference every day.
