When I told my parents I wanted to work with Python they were less than enthused... until I explained what coding was. Trying to balance my creativity and logicality I slowly shifted my career goals from author to lawyer to data analyst.For me it's the perfect blend of story-telling and math (I'm a riot at dinner parties). Like a novel, a blank programming script is a story waiting to be written except you can press a button which will convey your success or lack there-of. While at the College of William and Mary I obtained a dual degree in Finance and Economics (with a concentration in business analytics) and quickly determined my favorite part was the statistical analysis. I was also apart of the mock trial program where I worked as VP Logistics as well as a team captain, often combing through spreadsheets and google forms (and of course legal documents and case law) to make decisions about tournaments and team strategy. During tournaments I would take qualitative and quantitative data provided in the case to create verbal presentations accompanied by visual demonstratives to inform courtroom judges.Outside of academics, I have interned at Bai, Pollock, Blueweiss, and Mulcahey, P.C. where I had the opportunity to examine real medical data and legal files, such as depositions and affidavits, to help attorneys build legal cases. My time with the Trumbull Probate Court allowed me to examine decades of financial data to inform outstanding payment decisions and restructure probate applications to optimize client accessibility to various legal needs.Because my work experience has been less technical than my career goals require, I jumped at the opportunity to expand my programming ability past "self-taught" and enrolled in the Masters of Science in Business Analytics program at William and Mary. I am currently working on finishing that degree.In the meantime, I work as a graduate assistant for the Mason School of Business, offering both undergraduate and graduate students help with Microsoft Excel, VBA, as well as any other programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL. In my free time I enjoy hiking, creative writing, amd developing new material for my stand-up comedy routine.
