• Worked under manufacturing engineers to serve as a bridge between the technicians and the design engineers o Talked with the technicians to identify aspects of the inverter’s design that could be reworked to improve the design for easier manufacturing and assembly; relayed this information to the engineering department so they could look into implementing the necessary changes. • Applied design for manufacturing and assembly in order to improve the… Show more • Worked under manufacturing engineers to serve as a bridge between the technicians and the design engineers o Talked with the technicians to identify aspects of the inverter’s design that could be reworked to improve the design for easier manufacturing and assembly; relayed this information to the engineering department so they could look into implementing the necessary changes. • Applied design for manufacturing and assembly in order to improve the efficiency of the manufacturing process o Redesigned the inverter transportation skates to reduce them from 130 pieces of hardware to only 16; reducing the service and rebuild time from several hours to roughly 30 minutes.• Used Creo and SolidWorks to develop drawing packages that could be sent out to manufacturers to reduce the number of items that had to be made in house. o With Creo: Created 3D models of the inverter’s wire ducts and made drawings to specify the appropriate cut length and critical dimensions. o With SolidWorks: Created 3D models, drawings, and a BOM for the inverter transportation skates; allowing the 80/20 rails to be outsourced for all manufacturing. These files were sent to the new manufacturing plant in South Carolina where they allowed for the technicians to easily assemble the skates. • Reworking of defective or broken parts to get them back into service. o Developed rework and assembly instructions for inverter transportation skates and a pressure tester for testing the inverter’s cooling system.
