As a student senator, my primary function is to be a voice for the students on campus. In bi-weekly meetings, the Student Senate discusses the concerns of students and assesses the best way to address these concerns with the university administration. As a student services senator, I represent students involved in student services on campus which includes student workers, clubs, and student organizations on campus. Moreover, I also represent students in the History and Government… Show more As a student senator, my primary function is to be a voice for the students on campus. In bi-weekly meetings, the Student Senate discusses the concerns of students and assesses the best way to address these concerns with the university administration. As a student services senator, I represent students involved in student services on campus which includes student workers, clubs, and student organizations on campus. Moreover, I also represent students in the History and Government Department, the Integrated Teaching Credential Program, commuter students, and males on campus. Within our first year, the Senate was able to sponsor a new parking security program put forward by the Safety Service Department. Beyond the regular duties I already did as a Student Senator, the Vice Chairman takes on the role of outreach and marketing for the Student Senate. This opportunity has allowed me to grow into new areas I must familiarize myself with. Marketing and public relations were new categories that I was relatively unfamiliar with. Still, luckily, I created a committee of 5 other senators who I could utilize to give me feedback and insights into what the outreach process would look like.

I execute appointments with students who need help with resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles to enhance their abilities and prospects for careers better. I also communicate with the entirety of the campus, including students, alumni, and staff, to inform them of upcoming opportunities and events occurring on campus. I also communicate with the entirety of the campus, including students, alumni, and staff, to inform them of upcoming opportunities and events occurring on campus. Part of my responsibilities is to help curate and administer 9 career fairs with over 500+ employers throughout both semesters and assist thousands of students in working towards their respective future careers.Most recently, I have been able to create new content for the office to help students who need resources we do not have. This has included a resume template for Master of Social Work students. In this position I assist a non-profit organization, FitOne Foundation, a few times a year to put on free children's fitness camps. These camps usually are a weekend during each season of the year, and in 2020 we did a 12 week, after-school program to get children moving and playing outside after sitting at home on the computer during the COVID-19 pandemic. My responsibilities in the foundation are to assist the owners in planning and executing the camps. These camps usually are a weekend during each season of the year, and in 2020 we did a 12 week, after-school program to get children moving and playing outside after sitting at home on the computer during the COVID-19 pandemic. My responsibilities in the foundation are to assist the owners in planning and executing the camps. I act as a coach and teach the functional movements of Cross-fit to ages 5-12. Also on the days where we are not out in the park or hosting a camp, I operate as an administrative assistant and take inventory and data collection on the foundation's collections and expenses. Customer service and hospitality were a priority in this position as I would have to often deal with disgruntled or confused customers. This often included prepping 200 2oz. ranch dressing cup every shift in a matter of forty-five minutes. The fast-paced work environment taught me time management and organizational skills. Show less
