The Utility Technician position at Pella Corporation puts me on the front line as a servant leader to the Value Add Department. I’m relied on to support our coordinator and fill in as coordinator when needed. Welcoming, leading, and teaching team members about our processes, safety, and quality standards. I’m also able to make sure the multitude of windows entering our department are organized and prepared to enter our Value Add process in the most efficient manner. Ensuring safety and quality standards as we run these units through our department. Every day is a new experience in value add and it’s exciting to keep learning in this position and growing as a leader.

I began my career glazing, installing glass, and beading vinyl windows on a double-hung line before transitioning to a different line. My proficiency in glazing not only allowed me to complete my tasks efficiently but also to assist teammates to keep production moving.Recognizing my attention to detail and adaptability, my coordinator and managers entrusted me with several positions on the transition line, often moving me to areas where I was most needed—even on other lines. This versatility eventually led to a promotion to Repair Technician, where I deepened my understanding of quality standards and the repair process.In this role, I honed my leadership skills by supporting teammates, repairing windows, and ensuring smooth operations. Most recently I accepted a new position as a Utility Technician in the Value Add Department, where I’m able to dive into a leadership role in a new area of the plant. This opportunity allows me to continue learning, growing, and leading with a focus on teamwork and servant leadership. It’s been wonderful getting to keep learning new processes, safety standards, and gaining experience as a coordinator. I’ve enjoyed bringing my attention quality details and repair experience to another area of the plant as well.
