As part of a five member Executive reporting to the Council of the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) I acted as the Chief Financial Officer. While overseeing all financial and operational aspects of the Union I drafted the operational budget (approximately $2.7m annually) and administered the approved budget. In doing so, I constantly reviewed and where necessary, revised DSU operations and spending.Through our year we successfully increased projected operating revenue by over 9% largely by renegotiating corporate partnerships. This allowed us to bolster spending - including increasing grant support, offering more competitive staff compensation and increasing our service offerings without increasing membership costs.In this role I acted as the Chief Administrator of a self-funded members' health plan insuring over ten thousand students each year. I also acted as the Executive Representative overseeing a building renovation of the Student Union Building totalling over $10m.I continued to Chair and sit as a member on a wide variety of committees within the DSU and the Dalhousie University settings including but not limited to;-DSU Budget & Finance Committee (Chair)-DSU Grants & Sponsorship Committee (Chair)-DSU Facility Improvement Fund Committee (Chair)-Dalhousie University Transportation & Security Committee (Student Representative)-Dalhousie University President's Advisory Council on Sustainability (Student Representative)-DSU Sustainability Office Steering Committee (Chair)

As part of the Dalhousie Student Union Facilities & Operations Department I supported the day-to-day operation of the Student Union Building, its businesses and services. In addition to providing a high level of customer service to all internal and external clients, I also conducted large-scale event management which included the supervision of a staff of up to twenty-five employees.

As the Chief Returning Officer and Chair of the Elections Committee for the Dalhousie Student Union I was responsible for organizing and administering the DSU Elections. Duties included but weren't limited to:-Reviewing and revising policies.-Drafting relevant rules and educating candidates/campaigns.-Promoting these events to students utilizing new outreach and engagement strategies.These efforts successfully translated to a near 100% increase in student participation in the DSU Elections.
