My current role as a data collection analyst for Stats Perform requires me to essentially be a middle man between Google and Opta. A usual shift for me would usually see me monitor various games from numerous sport leagues worldwide, some examples of leagues I would monitor include : NFL, MLB, English Premier League and France Top 14 among many others. This role requires me to have absolute focus at all times for the duration of my shift, I need to monitor a games Google One Box alongside a video source for the game in question to ensure the information Google is displaying for their users is accurate. I will take three timed data points and put them into a spread sheet to display how long on average a game takes to update on Google. If there is any issues I must be ready to communicate directly with both Google and Opta so that the issue at hand can be resolved as soon as possible. An example of an issue I might have to take action would be if a game goes over the given threshold to update on Google. This role requires high attention to detail, communication skills and it is essential to work together as a team.

I started working in Stats Perform Limerick in July 2022, I started in the soccer department which suited me down to the ground as I have always had a keen interest in the sport and have followed and played it regularly since a very young age. I started working as a tier eleven analyst which is the most basic statistics the company provides for soccer matches. My work as a tier eleven analyst required me to be on call with an in-ground correspondent, they would relay the key statistics back to me such as goals, cards, corners, free kicks etc... and I would input these live statistics into a computer software which would then almost immediately be sent to clients worldwide. After some positive feedback from correspondents I was moved up to tier thirteen training by my supervisor. Tier thirteen training required me to do one-hundred hours of practice and pass two practical tests at the end to qualify. I passed these tests first time and was then fully qualified as a Soccer Performance analyst. After a rocky start I began working hard and ascended through the ranks until eventually I started to really excel in my role. I broke into the top three in the office which was published in the company's monthly newsletter. I started consistently making the top three, until eventually being the top office in the Limerick Office four months in a row between February 2024 until May 2024. I was even trusted to become a part of the training team which trained in new analysts to assist them in passing their qualification tests. This role brought out the very best of me as a worker as I saw key skills such as communication, accuracy, teamwork and focus grow and grow with every single game I analsyed. I grew to love my job and looked forward to the challenged I faced every shift. I thrived under pressure in a live environment in this role as I was trusted to provide stats for the most high profile games the Limerick office analysed.

My first venture into any sort of working environment came when I secured a seasonal role at Dunnes Stores in the Parkway Shopping Centre, Limerick. This role was a part time one which mainly consisted of evening and weekend shifts due to me preparing to sit my Leaving Certificate in that academic year. My responsibilities in this role were mainly in the dairy section of the store, although I was always happy to help out in other sections such as the grocery section and occasionally on tills whenever I was called upon. Once trained in I was met with many responsibilities such as : facing off shelfed items on a regular basis ensuring the shelves looked as appealing and presentable as possible for customers, handling deliveries of new dairy stock once a week and ensuring the freezer was kept in top condition, so that my fellow staff would be working in a clean, safe environment and to maintain a good number of stock in to prevent over/under stocking the freezer. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Dunnes Stores, albeit not as long as I personally would have liked. I left the company at the end of December 2021 after the expiration of my seasonal contract. I would have loved to continued with the company however, with my Leaving Certificate on the horizon at the time I felt like prioritizing my academic work was the wise decision. I am still and always will be eternally grateful to all the wonderful staff I worked with during my time with Dunnes for being so kind and respectful to me and for also giving me the opportunity to get mt foot in the door of a workplace.
