I was a member of a small team that was responsible for the deployment, monitoring and configuration of a distributed trading infrastructure. I was able to developed a strong sense of what it takes to be successful when using rapid deployment and continuous integration methodologies. During my time at Akuna was lucky enough to be a part of a three person team that was able to transform into true DevOps as the firm transformed from startup to a dominant Chicago trading firm. As the growing pains of scalability and performance became necessary problems to solve, I really enjoyed being the driver of automated efforts and new tech within my team.

Managed a software development team of three students to create a user-friendly app used to record the results of medical students. This involved creating an SQL database, an objective-c based iPad/iPhone application, and a back end to facilitate the interaction between the two. In addition to writing scripts and code, I created project goals and deadlines and acted as the liaison between the computer science team and the medical staff by translating technical concepts into accessible language.
