I have extensive experience across the Microsoft SQL Server product stack with a primary focus on the database engine. I have had the privilege to lead teams in designing and implementing clustered, virtual and VLDB environments on the administrative side as well as architect various products and solutions for internal projects. My primary areas of expertise include:• Enterprise Architecture• Data Center Migrations• SQL Development• SQL Performance Tuning• SQL Server Administration• Systems Design• AutomationSome of the highlight systems and architectures I have implemented include a nationwide bidirectionally replicated OLTP system, a geo-spanned cluster across two sites both actively serving requests and a 6 node active/active “big iron” cluster. I also built a custom SQL server sharded architecture using peer-to-peer replication allowing a company to scale out instead of up. Working in these varying environments has exposed me to a number of design philosophies and coding practices.SQL Server engine internals is the facet of the product that I am most passionate about. I apply my expertise and knowledge to ensure the scalability and availability of the systems I design and help to implement.Beginning in early 1998 I started working with technology as a career. Across my years in IT I have had the privilege to work in capacities from tech support to IT manager. Having worked in so many positions I have a journeyman level of knowledge in areas including programming, infrastructure design, systems administration and QA. For over a decade I've focused my career on the SQL Server technology stack and have attained a level of skill that allows me to be a technical leader within an organization for the technology stack.
