A COVID-19 Vaccinator works to support the safe and timely delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations through Queensland Health’s COVID-19 vaccination program. The following responsibilities must be undertaken, as designated within the Queensland Health COVID-19 Vaccination Code:• Safely receive, handle, prepare and administer COVID-19 vaccines or related drugs, according to the COVID-19 Vaccination Code.• Assess the health and suitability of persons to be vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine according to the Queensland COVID-19 Vaccination Readiness Assurance Plan.• Assist with consumer discussions around general vaccine education and advice to ensure informed consent and to identify avenues for support in the event of post-vaccination adverse reactions.• Monitor patients after vaccination for adverse reactions, including anaphylaxis• Adhere to stock control, storage, handling, issuing and disposal procedures for COVID-19 vaccines or other related drugs according to the Queensland COVID-19 Vaccination Readiness Assurance Plan.• Assist with the provision of first aid to medically compromised patients, with strict adherence to emergency protocols.• Record and report information relating to the Queensland COVID-19 vaccination program (including vaccination data, adverse events and COVID-19 vaccine stock) through the Queensland COVID-19 Vaccine Management System (or where unavailable, another system as approved by Queensland Health).• Work cooperatively and effectively as a member of the COVID-19 vaccination team, including participation in briefings, coordination of patients and familiarisation of clinic resources.• Support quality assurance, risk minimisation, risk management and infection control processes.• Monitor latest clinical guidance from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), Australian Government and Queensland Health.
