Dylan Peterson is currently in the process of completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management at Arizona State University. Since his youth, Peterson has had an interest in working and collaborating with others. This interest in people drove him to pursue a Business Management degree to put him in a position where he can exercise his passion of partnership with others of similar mindsets. Peterson elected to attend Arizona State University due to the highly regarded business school, alongside the fact that it would keep him close to family.In order to put himself in a position of future success and allowing him a clearer path to a career working with people in a business aspect, Peterson pursued various internships, where he sought growth both personally and professionally. During these opportunities, Peterson developed various skills, both social and technical.These internships and developed skills prove valuable, as they allowed Peterson to obtain real world work experience that can set him apart from others. By having the ability to work in a professional environment with a variety of people within a company, it allows Peterson to receive professional development prior to completing his degree. The communication aspect of a professional work environment was beneficial to Peterson’s learning and understanding the corporate world and how companies function both internally and externally. Working face to face with peers, as well as people outside of the company, is a skill that Peterson furthered each day. These interactions provide value to him as an employee by ensuring quality communication with all parties. A hard skill Peterson obtained throughout this internship and others was the ability to analyze resumes, as he would review a significant number each day for various skill sets. This was particularly beneficial to Peterson as he was given experience needed to improve his own resumes by seeing first hand what employers look for in candidate resumes, along with understanding the numerous red flags that turn employers away. Peterson believes that experiences build one's character. By putting himself in situations where experience can be gained, it allows him to develop himself professionally and personally. Peterson’s opportunities allow for growth that set him apart from his peers. By taking advantage of the time leading to degree completion, Peterson believes it will make him valuable to future employers and treats his internships as opportunities for both professional and personal development.
