Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity to learn about many different business disciplines and meet people in a wide range of roles. Opportunities like this have been invaluable tools for career exploration. Through my studies and extracurriculars, I have really discovered my passion for project management. This year, I made the decision to specialize in accounting and business technology management while also taking courses in project management.Through my extracurricular involvement as the Executive Director of the Creston Community Auditorium Society, an arts and culture charity in my hometown, I have been able to further explore and put this knowledge to work. I have been working for several years to modernize and expand the organization using industry-leading technology generously donated to us. Some of the platforms I have successfully implemented include Oracle NetSuite ERP, Microsoft 365 for Business, and an online ticket sales platform – Tickit, to name a few.Each of these projects took research, learning, and, most importantly, negotiations and proposals to the board of directors. I have learned a lot about what It takes to take a project from idea to completion, and these real-world projects have been essential to taking my in-class learning to the next level.I hope to continue on this path and use my knowledge in foundational business accounting, technology tools and management, and project management in future roles.
