Daily responsibilities• Maintenance and upkeep of owned physical server hardware at a rented server rack which requires close communication and collaboration with the onsite staff during maintenance windows.• Management and maintenance of all service software from bare metal applications to high level Windows apps.• Regular security and performance inspections for all services to minimize downtime and vulnerabilities.• First responder to customer service tickets for internal users and external clients.Products shipped• Developed and deployed monitoring and reporting software on our email servers.• Designed and developed a generalized alarm tool to report common problems which may appear on our backend services.• Redesigned and re-engineered the core of our local backup solution for our development servers.• Managed the deployment of dozens of websites for new customers.• Worked directly with clients to maintain and manage their websites for them as required.• Migrated main servers from a Hyper-V hypervisor to a much more performant VMWare ESXI bare metal hypervisor which directly increased performance and redundancy for all of our provided services.• Deployed a PFSense router/firewall and Proxmox hypervisor at our office which completely eliminated an existing issue with repeated network outages, and dramatically improved network security and early threat detection.• Migrated applicable services from Windows-based servers to Linux-based servers in order to reduce overhead and overall system load during times of peak traffic.• Deployed VPN servers in our datacenter and our office to allow secure work from home access to our networks whenever necessary. Directly reduced the need for onsite presence and maintenance to almost zero as a result of this implementation.
