I'm a theater director, producer, teacher, and communications specialist. At Freelancers Union, my job was customer service oriented with an emphasis on communications. I developed and copy-edited outgoing communications with members for a wide variety of services we provided to them. I managed our customer service vendors, and resolved unusually difficult cases myself, in order to help the organization take responsibility and put a name and face on essentially a bureaucratic issue.As a theater director I have an MFA from Brown University, co-founded and help run the Brooklyn-based company AntiMatter, and most recently received one of the most prestigious awards available to young directors, the Drama League Fellowship. Many skills that are central to directing translate to a business environment:- Clear and precise written and oral communication with a variety of team members, including actors, technical departments, and designers, in order to coordinate our efforts and create the best show we can make for opening night.- Scheduling deadlines, rehearsals, and production calendars in order to get the job done efficiently while ensuring that everyone's time is well-spent. This includes a constant analysis of when the room is productive, and when we need to deviate from our plan and change things up.- Creative problem solving, so if we can't get the 500-gallon pool, can we afford 50 kiddie pools, or 50 super soakers that we hand out to the audience? The flexibility to adapt an idea to the budget, timeframe, and context of a project.Running AntiMatter, I have experience with many key areas including budgeting, contracts, social media marketing, old school press kit and press release marketing, web design via WordPress and SquareSpace, fundraising, and more.All of this is to say: I'm flexible, I'm a self-starter, and I get things done. I have a passion for directing, and for applying those skills to anything interesting, challenging, and exciting.
