My research interest focuses on biotechnology- the application of the life sciences to the fields of engineering, medicine and technology- in particular their application to regenerative medicine and adavanced drug delivery technologies. Previous research has focused on tissue engineering and biomaterial development with emphasis on skin, the eye and the brain. Current interests include the development of novel (bio)mimetic materials, sustainable biotechnology, NAMs, and the development of immortilised (stem) cells.I am a firm believer of the concept of “to make things better, you first need to know how it works” and the application of “benchside-to-bedside” technology. As such, I aim to build upon my expertise in tissue engineering, pharmaceutics and bioprocessing to further my knowledge of (drug) formulation, novel therapeutic manufacturing, and the development of enhanced cell culture models.
