I led the London office sustainability team within a global multi-disciplinary building services consultancy, mainly focused on new build and refurbishment projects. The role required excellent analytical, organisational and financial competence, as well as creative and innovative skills. In addition, exceptional verbal and written communication skills were required to present complex and innovative solutions to a wide range of stakeholders and throughout a variety of knowledge levels. Working principally in energy demand analysis within a small building services practice. Key responsibilities included producing Part L reports through analysis of approved software, and producing energy strategies, which included analysis of Low and Zero Carbon technologies, principally to meet planning conditions across a range of market sectors.

Primarily working for the Carbon Trust on the ‘Biomass Heat Accelerator’ programme, the role required excellent organisational and communicative skills, sound decision making ability and a strong and influential personality. I analysed data on UK wide existing biomass units in order to drive the subsequent phases of the 5 year programme.I drafted and reviewed biomass installer project proposals and led in client and programme management meetings and decisions. I was also heavily involved in fuel sampling methodologies, troubleshooting liaison and dealing with biomass installation subcontractors.I worked on RegenSW’s ‘Bioheat’ programme, identifying and introducing potential sites to the project, which aimed to promote biomass across SW England. On successful sites, I undertook feasibility studies, which included site and energy assessments to determine boiler and building footprints and provide recommendations for biomass heating. I profiled energy demands for various sites, and presented refurbishment and potential renewable energy technology solutions. Previous to working with the renewable energy group, I worked in the environmental modelling team, interpreting and analysing raw wind, wave and other modelling data, maps and photographs to produce a holistic analysis and report of coastal flood defences for NE England.
