Contract Manufacturing Manager
CurrentMy current role centres on directing all aspects of the procurement relationship with multiple manufacturing suppliers across Europe. In practical terms, this encompasses negotiating procurement strategy, pricing and the terms of commercial contracts and master service agreements, and as part of this I build and maintain relationships with manufacturing partners in order to optimise value gained from suppliers, and collaborate with others to manage supplier performance against KPIs. An important aspect of my remit is to support the launch of new product development (NPD) projects, which I do by sourcing manufacturing partners and leveraging existing relationships with suppliers, together with negotiating on areas including costs, pricing, rebates, master service agreements and commercial contracts. I very much enjoy being able to realise cost savings, and I do so by analysing market data to identify scope for savings, such as energy pricing, or adjusting production frequency, and negotiating pricing with suppliers. Finally, accountability lies with me to manage the challenges of moving from third-party manufacturing to a combined in-house and outsourced manufacturing model. * The Results * • Realised seven-digit savings, representing 15.6% of current spend, by extending a supplier contract to underpin business growth • Negotiated extra external capacity to support increased company output, including accelerating label printing by simplifying ordering and communication processes
