Merriam is a non-deterministic system for exploring large volumes of information using what we call "narrative search." The History Lab project (formerly the Declassification Engine) is an interdisciplinary effort to bring computational methods to bear on large volumes of archival information. It also seeks to conduct research and build tools that will help the government in its mandate to declassify more of the public record.
