I work in the Acquisition Management Division and started out reviewing the work of property managers who administer buildings services and maintenance contracts. I was instrumental in creating a handbook on administering building services contracts that is used throughout the region. I created and provided training on the handbook and the performance of the administration duties and visited 15 different locations in the region to provide that training. Subsequently, 2 years later I visited 11 locations in the region to provide updated training on the same subject. Since that time the handbook and training has been used as a bases for similar training in another region. I currently lead two national teams on the preparation of national contract administration handbooks for services and construction contracts.

I was provided the opportunity to create a program that addressed an increased level of congressional inquiries into our leasing program. After becoming familiar with the processes involved in our leasing actions, I created and managed a community relations program that conducted outreach to the cities and towns we are located in within our 6 state region. During the first two years I visited over 52 cities and met with the Mayors in over half of those locations. I designed the presentation and helped train those that also attended the presentations. The program was very successful and the level of inquiries completely diminished.

I was on an extended detail to the Office of Congressional & Intergovernmental Affairs in our headquarters. My area of responsibility was acquisition and FAS related issues. I attended meetings with congressional staff, helped prepare testimony of witnesses before congressional committees, and reviewed and approved correspondence. During this time I interacted with senior leadership of the agency.

Supervisory property manager responsible for janitorial and related services at the Chicago Federal Center. The Chicago Federal Center is comprised of the Everett McKinley Dirksen U.S. Courthouse, the John C. Kluczynski Federal Building and the US Post Office - Loop Station. During this time I was also responsible for administering the elevator maintenance contracts in all three buildings; creating and managing a contract specification writing and estimating team; creating and managing a security clearance office responsible for badging and tracking 4,000 contractor employees; and administering the operations and maintenance contract for the JCK building and Loop post office.
