Out of High School I went into the Marines and because I wasn’t old enough for a war zone yet they kept sending me to schools. The first was petroleum analysis, then “Jump” School, Ranger School. SCUBA School, etc By the time I was finished I was not only “John Wayne” but old enough for Viet Nam so I went to the 3rd Force Recon battalion in Quang Tri on the DMZ in between North and South Viet Nam. After a couple of months Nixon halted all offensive operations in Viet Nam and pull the entire 3rd Marine Division out except for one battalion, 3rd Force Recon. So I went to Phu Bia and “reconed” the Ashue Valley for 9 months. After that I worked a number of jobs from running an IMB 370 mainframe computer for Prudential Insurance to running a 300 foot machine that cleaned steel. I realized that in order for me to get ahead I needed a degree so I enrolled in NJCU (formerly Jersey City State College) under the GI bill. While in college I worked as a deputy sheriff for Hudson County guarding county parks at night. Because I finished school in 3 ½ years I took a jobs “temporarily” while I found a job using my economics credentials. I that temporary job lasted 9 years and went for a low level supervisor to the VP of Human Resources.In 1986 I knew that I had a better way to run a company so I founded Bond Security Services, Inc. a contact security guard firm that specialized in providing services to businesses during labor disputes. I built the company to over 400 employees and offices in 4 states. In 2000 I sold the company to a national security guard company and took a year off. In 2001 I went to work for an old client of mine, Home Depot, as a store HR Manager and was promoted to a District Human Resource Manager. Unfortunately I was “downsized” at HD so I help my son start a concrete resurfacing company.I am now at Visual Management Systems as the Director of Human Resources and couldn’t be happier; it’s a great company with a lot of great people.Specialties: organizational development, labor and employee relations, recruiting, training, benefits administration, union avoidance, accounting and management.
