Intellectual Ventures Instrument Maker team has grown nearly an order of magnitude in the last year and I have the incredible privilege to lead this highly talented and specialized group of amazingly talented people.

This is a one person R&D machine shop. Starting will just one manual mill, it's been built by me into a full machine shop with CNC milling (Fadal and EZ Trak) programming (SmartCam) tool room lathe (Hardinge) and all the support equipment needed to keep this small division of Lockheed Martin running smoothy. I produce, rework, modify, help engineer, design and work with suppliers both in house and outside. Working on very delicate and precise optic parts to very vague parts, each piece requires a diverse skill set that I have developed over years or working in R&D. Our line of business is fiber laser R&D Ideas and techniques I have developed within the company are responsible for pushing the abilities of our lasers to produce higher power and more accurate alignment of beams. We specialize in spectral beam combining so accuracy is extremely important.Designs I have made have been field tested and moved forward along program lines to actual service in the field.Working within a large corporation I have set up my own little internal business where I procure materials and equipment needed to keep up with the increasing demands of this exploding field. My floor space has doubled in size in the last 2 years and my output has increased at a similar ratio.

This was a company that I spent a long time at working in R&D on magnetic structures (wigglers and undulators) along with chemical lasers. Mostly machining but also assembly, shipping (sometimes very large machines) installation and engineering support functions.
