Ed leads and provides strategic direction for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab office in Los Angeles, CA. He identifies critical technologies for development that increases the state of the art to solve sponsor mission needs. Ed communicates highly technical concepts in a way that key decision makers understand the mission impact / improvements.Ed has over twenty-five years of experience in systems engineering management and development spanning the entire system life cycle from architecture definition and requirements development to maintenance support and sustaining engineering. He has directed, conducted and critiqued in-depth analysis of ground and space-based systems in support of current and future MILSATCOM, OCS, DCS, SSA and national systems. Ed has specific knowledge of wireless / VSAT access as well as various modulations such as spread spectrum (CDMA), TDMA, PSK and QAM in support of Cyber/EW mission areas. He has also worked on multi-node (excess of 200 nodes) distributed processing systems and different operating systems and communications protocols to include TCP/IP and custom communications systems. Additionally, he has lead software teams for the development of new systems, served in software technical advisory roles and served on government source selection teams.In-depth successful experience developing and delivering ground and space based systems. His experience spans the development phase through system sustainment & operations. Have a record of successful project completion; e.g. classified communications project 10% below budget and 1 week ahead of schedule.
