My career of 37 years has given me significant experience in construction, project management, maintenance and operations in plant environments and manufacturing. For several years I provided technical support in the erection and commissioning of power plants including training of the utility's operators and maintenance personnel. For several years I consulted with utilities resulting in establishing the longest multi-year contract with PP&L who later recruited me to lead a $100,000,000 project to modify the combustion systems in their largest plants. I more recently spent 5-years as a contractor working full time for PP&L preparing and executing multi-million-dollar projects during their outages improving plant reliability and decreasing costly downtime. My work included the reduction of NOx emission and the successful firing of off-spec coals saving the utility several million dollars annually. My manufacturing experience has been in the cement industry. As Chief Mechanical Engineer for Essroc, I supported maintenance and executed capital improvement projects. As the Maintenance Manager for 7-years with Lafarge, I achieved significant improvements in equipment reliability while reducing maintenance costs by 25% and decreasing manpower by 15%. With Keystone, I was the lead mechanical engineer on a project team to design, construct and commission a state-of-the art 3,000 t/day cement manufacturing facility. I returned to Essroc/LehighHanson as a Corporate Maintenance Manager and after a year, I accepted the position of maintenance manager at their largest plant increasing reliability to an unprecedented level while production volumes increased and keeping within budget constraints. During my 37 years, I've worked extensively with equipment suppliers, engineering firms, construction companies and have had extensive involvement in capital projects from conception through commissioning. I’ve managed departments of 50 personnel and worked extensively with Union labor.
