Sourcing / Category Manager
Senior Supply Chain Manager
Contract Manager
I was responsible for Structural Steelwork, Small Part Steelwork and fixings with total contract value of approx. £65m across 8 suppliers. I was also the lead Contract Manager on the Great Western Route Modification project, this involved managing all orders for the project, supporting the Supply Chain Manager in Project meetings, covering where required and working closely with the project finance teams. This required the use of effective supplier management, negotiation skills (for which I attended a negation practitioner course) and customer focused behaviours. I was then appointed as the Employer Facilitated Contract Manager looking after contracts of approx. £250m across 5 suppliers; this involved not only managing the suppliers but also working with IP projects providing contractual and legal advice in regards to the frameworks. I was required to work with external contractors to assist in the call off procedure. Due to the complex nature of these contracts I have significantly improved my knowledge of contract and procurement law allowing me to positively challenge suppliers and protect NR’s interests. I am currently the lead contract manager, with others assigned for all projects being delivered by NSC electrification. Overseeing and formulating the CM process, assisting where required and guiding others in terms of project queries.
Contracts Assistant
Network Rail is responsible for the upgrading and maintenance of the UK’s railway infrastructure. I work within NSC (National Supply Chain) electrification department delivering OHL materials for both maintenance and UK projects. This is a centralised function to support the routes and delivers a holistic supply chain. Initially appointed as a Contracts Assistant responsible for day to day dealings with suppliers and project customers, delivering parts to the supply chain and supporting the Senior Contract Manager. I was also responsible for mini-tendering and evaluations, cost price management and supplier analysis using a variety of tools and systems. Whilst in this role I developed a supplier induction presentation, standardised contract review templates and led the Great Eastern project from a contract management aspect. Within 4 months I was seconded into the role of Contract Manager, this being made permanent in July 2015.
Buyer
Cunningham Lindsey is a multinational organisation that is the biggest loss adjusters and claims management company in the UK. I work within the finance function, reporting directly to the procurement director. Initially appointed as Group Procurement administrator responsible for day to day dealings with suppliers including energy brokers and within two months assuming responsibility for PO administration. This role required communication with people of all levels within the company, to ensure the ordering process ran smoothly from start to finish. I was responsible for supporting the senior buyer in negotiations, tenders and contracts and the control of the IT Capex budget (£3m p.a.) as well as the management of approximately 10 small value suppliers and the creation and issuing of all company Purchase Orders c. 125/week.In January 2014 I was promoted to the role of Buyer, responsible for a total contract value of £2.6m and managing a diverse set of contracts ranging from Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to stationary and travel, requiring me to implement different techniques for supplier management and negotiation. My key responsibilities include; • Developing and implementing strategic plans for my supplier base to consolidate and deliver cost savings of £200k p.a. • Engaged in business transformation projects, participating in building the business case for Managed Print to achieve savings of £500k over five years, project and timeline scoping and supplier shortlist for Telephony technology upgrade to be piloted in the Cardiff Claims Centre • In conjunction with Accounts, ensuring all spend is allocated to the correct departmental codes and nominals on an Opex and Capex basis. • Creating a bi-annual environmental report for the Business Development Director to support the company’s Environmental Management System, with the objective of gaining accreditation in ISO 14001.
