About Edd Moore
I am a primary school teacher with experience in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2. I am passionate and enthusiastic about the environment, learning outdoors, gardening and young enterprise. I have integrated all these topics into our school curriculum encouraging children to lead and have a voice in these subjects by becoming experts themselves. This has been accomplished by each class making a pledge across the school each term to help people, animals or the environment. These qualities and subjects help drive and inspire innovative projects engaging children, staff and volunteers across the school and the wider community to join together. In a previous school Eco Schools was at the heart of the life of the school. We wanted every child to leave with a real awareness of the local, national and global environment and how each one can make a real difference to the quality of the environment for everyone. Eco work was integrated into the curriculum and there was a real enthusiasm across the school for all our eco work. Also a recognition that it has financial rewards too.Foundation For Environmental Education Teacher Award 2024.1 of the 500 Coronation Champions 2023 for my environment work with young people at school and in the community. I teach Year1 but have experience of teaching in Foundation (4-5 year olds) and Year 3. I am passionate about using creativity in my teaching. I make creative role plays for children to use in their learning to support their communication and language. These have included a space rocket and an Indian Palace. I have Level 3 Forest Schools qualification and am First Aid Trained. I run Forest School Club and Eco Club after school each week. We achieved Eco Schools Green Flag in April 2016, 2018. Eco projects we have focused on have been recycling with the school earning money through recycling used pens and biscuit wrappers. We also Collected 1500 2 litre plastic bottles to make a Plastic Bottle Greenhouse. I lead an enterprise project entering the Virgin Fiver Competition 2016 with a group of children from Eco Club and Maths Club called 'Damers Eco Force.' They sold Garden Grenades (school recycled paper mixed with wildflower seeds) We won 'Best Group' beating 750 other primary schools from around the country. In July 2017 'Damers Eco Crew' sold Spick 'n' Span (A multipurpose cleaning block made from bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and coconut oil) We won 'Best Group' and 'Most Profitable Product'I have designed the learning outside area which includes 3 gardens (one main school with 13 raised beds, a Foundation garden and a Eco garden using recycled containers including wheel rims, car tyres and pallets.) The garden is embedded in to the curriculum and linked to our global projects. Children have grown and made a dish from their chosen year group country. I designed the outside area for Foundation with a mud kitchen, sandpit, story telling chair and stools, a music corner made from recycled items. I linked up with the Thomas Hardye School Art department and A level students who came and painted a learning wall outside for the children to use. It includes sounds, tricky words and numbers. It also incorporated characters from traditional tales.
