About Ed Douglas

Having started in small market radio in Ohio when I was 11 my only dream at that time was to work at WLW in Cincinnati. I achieved that when I was 22. 3 years there as an on-air talent/APD/MD and 16 years in Columbus, Ohio as Operations Manager and PD for Oldies 97.1 and Sportsradio 1460 the Fan, Executive Producer of the Ohio State Football and Basketball Radio Networks, and OM/Affiliate Relations for Ohio News Network and Radio Sound Network. We flipped our big FM from New Age/Jazz to Oldies and flipped a Music of Your Life AM into a very good sportstalk radio station. Working for me at that time was some pretty good sports talent: Kirk Herbstreit – now ESPN College Game Day; Tom Hamilton-now Cleveland Indians play-by-play; Terry Smith - now Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim play-by-play; and Debbie Antonelli - now CBS Radio Women’s Final Four Network and many games on regional TV. I also ran the national radio networks for the Citrus and Alamo Bowls for 3 years while in Columbus and had great play-by-play and color analyst doing our broadcasts: Dave O'Brien; Jeff Van Note; Ron Barr; and Spencer Tillman. In 1998 moved on to private ownership that lasted only 5 years and during that time produced the Columbus Blue Jackets radio broadcast for the first 3 seasons. In 2003 moved on the Clear Channel Radio in Findlay (Toledo), Ohio as Director of Operations and Programming for a 3 station cluster that included WCKY-FM, a 50Kw country station with great ratings in the Toledo TSA, a class A Classic Rock station, and a small AM that was, proudly, a very good community radio station for Tiffin, Ohio. In 2007 I also took over as Director of Operations and Programming for Clear Channel Lima, Ohio and 6 stations there. A 50Kw country, class B Rhythmic CHR, 3 class As: Active Rock; Oldies; and AC, and a News-Talk AM. All 6 were underperforming from a quality and ratings standpoint. When I left in May '09 the five remaining stations were ranked #1-5 in Arbitron 12+.Specialties: "Cleaning up" stations that are not focused musically, imaging, jocks, entertainment, web pages, and audience relationship. For news-talk stations: re-tooling the news department to function better, imaging, and proper show selection whether syndicated or local. Overall: Talent coaching, management of staff, budgeting, research and taking results and turning them into action plans, use of social media for promotion of the station(s), understanding and embracing new technologies.

Listed skills include Radio, Broadcast, Radio Broadcasting, Television, and 45 others.
